What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

It is so exciting to finish this Christmas quilt early..... ok late. But, I am glad it is done and off all my lists. I found the pattern as a free Christmas sew along here. In March 2018, I was overwhelmed with piles of Christmas fabrics and I started cutting. This is one of the quilts I cut trying to use it and organize it. I didn't make it all go away, but, I did get it stored together.

Welcome to Week 360 of Free Motion Mavericks. I feel like I've been avoiding it long enough - like a groundhog who pops out of his den and finds that snow is on the ground and Christmas and the holidays are almost here! Yikes...unlike the groundhog, there's no going back to sleep now!

As I was looking back at my Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilts (see previous post), I thought it would be interesting to remind myself of the other BH patterns I have made. I have included  Bonnie's name for the pattern and my name for individual quilts [in brackets], if they differed. The year indicated was the year that I completed the project.

No fabric in, but fabric out for the pillow.

After two finishes last week, I’m not motivated to work on the next thing. Instead I looked online and found a couple patterns that will work with one charm pack. Pulled the background fabric too. Now I need to make a decision and get cutting.

I bought the charm pack a few years ago at the AQS show. I love that the line has that vintage Christmas feel. No sense letting ...

After considering adding another row to the Christmas sparkle quilt  a free pattern found here. I made more blocks and added to the top before counting it done. But, now, I need to make the decision to add borders. I have plenty of fabric. IT doesn't seem big on the library floor, but, it does at home when I lay it out to decide.

My Friday group met and I worked on Christmas sparkle UFO .  The instructions had me making corner pieces for each of the 9 blocks. I think the block using just these pieces would be great as well.

I was looking forward to trying a block to see what it would look like. I was surprised at how big it was.  

These blocks are huge 24 - 25 inches and there are only 9 of them. I used Christmas fabrics, but, I think I would like it with shirt fabrics.

Holiday Stars on page 25 measures 51″ x 67″ and the blocks are 16″. I used fabrics from the Holiday Decadence collection by Hoffman Fabrics. The prints are beautiful with pine cones, robins, seasonal words… all wrapped in lots of gold trim.

Welcome to the last Throwback Thursday of 2019! We've had some wonderful linkups and walks down memory lane.

No fabric added this week.
I finished the second pillowcase for another yard plus some out. I made them longer because standard pillowcases are too short for our pillows.
Various commitments this week took precedence over creative time. Next week there will be more opportunities to hang out in the sewing room.
